New details about next ‘Mass Effect’ game emerge, will use same engine as ‘Battlefield 3’

Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson announced on Friday that a “completely new” game in the series has begun development, but details beyond that were extremely thin. Now, Yanick Roy, studio director for BioWare Montreal, has revealed that the lead duties for the series have been passed from BioWare Edmonton to the team in Montreal, and that Hudson will remain on board as the executive producer. Additionally, Roy stated that the new Mass Effect game will utilize the Frostbite game engine — the same one found in Battlefield 3 — while also borrowing some technology that is currently being used by the Dragon Age III development team.
