When fans of gaming clamor for innovation, real innovation, it’s in hopes of moments like this. We’ve been shooting people in the face for two decades and I don’t know that it really makes me feel anything any more. But when mechanics are as fresh and well-composed as they are in Gunpoint, allowing your imagination to buy into the fantasy isn’t just easy, it’s instinctual.

First ‘Lego Movie’ trailer assembles an all-star cast

Warner Bros. has just released the first trailer for the The Lego Movie, an upcoming film based on the popular building blocks. Directed by Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’ Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the movie thrusts an ordinary Lego figure, mistakenly identified as “the MasterBuilder,” into a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the Lego universe together. As is customary for big-budget animations, a lot of talent is signed up to voice the characters, including Morgan Freeman, Will Ferrell, Alison Brie, Liam Neeson, and Will Arnett.

Feedly updated with Cloud sync and app support ahead of Google Reader shutdown

With less than two weeks until Google shuts down Reader, Feedly has completed the rollout of its Cloud sync service, transitioning all users over to its servers. Announced on June 3rd, Feedly Cloud not only ensures that Google Reader users can continue to access their RSS feeds after July 1st, it is also provides an open framework for developers to build apps on top of the platform. IFTTT, Sprout Social, NextGen Reader, Press, and Newsify are all launching Feedly-connected apps today.

Beach ball, no more: Chatology aims to fix OS X’s messaging misfortune

Searching for people or messages inside Apple’s Messages for Mac can be downright unbearable. Typing anything into the app’s search bar is liable to slow your computer to a halt, even after some tweaks Apple made in its latest OS X update. Flexibits, the maker of Fantastical, thinks it has a fix: Today the company is launching Chatology, an app for searching through all the instant messaging logs on your Mac. If you’ve hooked up iMessage, it will search through those messages, too.

Most importantly, with a year of combat and practice under their belts, designers focused on perfecting their methods of destruction. Ingenuity took a quantum leap forward. Most back buttons, like the ones in desktop browsers, are just an arrow-shaped icon with a text label above or below that says only “Back.” If you want to know where they’ll take you, you usually have to click and hold on the button to reveal a list of the screens you previously viewed.”
